V Day

Life with a baby is a big change. A few people have asked me if having a baby has strengthened or weakened our marriage. I asked Chase this same question, and he said that he think it's strengthened even though it might not look like it. For example, Ashton makes it difficult to just snuggle up on
the couch together and watch a show. Instead, one of us is holding or sitting with Ashton. And yes, we do sometimes all sit together on the couch, but he doesn't sit still these days so that ruins it a bit haha. Now that doesn't sound like it strengthens our marriage, but the reason we say it does is because when Ashton is asleep or being babysat, and it is just the two of us, we LOVE IT! So I think we just treasure our time together more and don't take it for granted as much.

Sometimes we sit at home and can never think of what to do when we can spend time together. The only thing there is ever to do involves spending money, which isn't always in the cards for us... Summer please get here now so we can go outside again! Until then, I've been trying to be creative and come up with something to do at home when we either can't afford to go out or can't go out because of Ashton.

This past week, I've had a little fun making little decorations and treats for Valentine's Day (keep in mind that I'm an amateur crafty decorator). I decorated the kitchen a little bit and started the day with a fun breakfast with pink heart-shaped pancakes and french toast roll-ups
Our Valentine's Day home date night started at 8pm once Ashton went to bed. We had a lovely roast and mashed potato dinner, then I set up a fort and movie in Ashton's room (since he still sleeps in our room) where we watched Ocean's Eleven and did a little spa night! Complete with berry shakes and red velvet cake truffles.

I'm grateful for the moments we get to spend together, even if they are short moments and not as often as we want them to be. It was such a fun day to spend with my forever Valentine!
