November-February

So here's the thing. The past four months have been absolutely insane. INSANE. I will try to make this short, but here's the story.

November hit and it was baby month! Hallie was due Monday, November 13th and Ashton was 3 days early so I figured it would probably be about the same kind of situation. The week she was due was the worst week for Chase. He had 5 tests that week. To say we were stressing about his school life and adding a brand new baby at like the worst time is an understatement. He still had a month of school before he was to graduate (if he passed all his classes that is). I was so stressed and anxious. Anyway, she got here on Thursday, November 16th, and it all worked out (you can read about it HERE).

The day after Hallie was born, one of Chase's buddies from SUU who graduated last May said he heard of a job opportunity at Zion's bank and knew the employer and would send them Chase's resume if he was interested in the job once he finished school. So that night after we brought Hallie home from the hospital Chase edited his resume and sent it in. Well they called him within the next couple days and said they wanted to interview him the Monday after Thanksgiving. So he drove to Centerville, Utah to interview for a corporate job at Zion's bank. He called me on his way home and said he couldn't decide if he thought it went well or not, but what he explained to me sounded like it did go well. Within a couple of days they called back and said we would like to do a second interview, but we will just do a phone interview so you don't have to drive up north again. So he did the phone interview and after he called me and said that did not go well at all. He said he felt like he was at a huge disadvantage doing it over the phone because you can only tell so much about a person over the phone instead of doing it in person. After the second interview, it took them like a week to get back to us and finally called on Friday, December 15th and offered him a great job with great pay. We thought about it over the weekend and accepted the job on Monday, December 18th.

That day was the start of finals week for Chase. I took the kids and went to stay in St. George so he could focus on finals. In this time, he was failing one class, one of the most failed classes at SUU. He went and talked to the teacher and said I am graduating and have a job come January. This class is the only thing holding me back. The teacher said if you get a 70 on the final I will pass you. So he took his finals, felt ok about everything, except had no idea about that one class. Anyway, the week before Christmas was a waiting game until grades were posted. It was a miracle, Chase got a 72 on the final hahaha words cannot even explain how thrilled we were! Like, we were so giddy about it. It was such a miracle and my prayers were most certainly answered.

We spent Christmas in St. George and had a great time, but we were preparing to move in a week to live with my grandma in Midvale, Utah, until we could find a place to live. We lived with my grandma from January 1st-February 16th. Longest 7 weeks of my life. We lived in her basement, with no wifi (which is the reason I haven't been able to blog or anything) and it was just way hard living with my 87 year old grandma who really needed to just live in a retirement home. Finally, the day we moved was the day she moved and agreed to go move into a retirement home in St. George (don't get me started on that drama).

Within those 7 weeks, Chase commuted to work, I continued to care for Ashton and Hallie while attending to my grandma as well... cooking, running her errands, etc., and we were looking for a home. Well we decided to rent for a year to get to know the area and see where his job takes him so after looking at a few places, I had Chase stop by a townhouse in Bountiful after work one day and he said he didn't like it. The next day another one opened up at the same place and he looked and we like it more. The other one was not clean and it was just gross so we hurried and put a deposit down on the second one and was to move in February 9th. The next day, we got a call saying we lost it, but could have the first one that wasn't as clean. From desperation on my part to move out of my grandma's and settle down, I said yes even though Chase was very hesitant. Fast forward to February and it was move in time. We went to sign papers and were to move in the following weekend and we walked in, both felt uneasy, but made the worst mistake of our lives and signed the papers. It hadn't even been 10 hours and we called and said sorry we don't want it. So they made us sell our contract. After several interests, one person flaking on taking the least, and two weeks later, we sold it, but lost several hundred dollars. Within that two week time, we moved back in with my grandma and started our housing search again. When we found two duplex. One in Bountiful that was in someone's backyard and was in an old area and one that was in Centerville just 3 minutes from Chase's work, that was in a really nice area, but the bedrooms were tiny. After SO much thought, we decided we wanted the Centerville duplex. Well, we found out other people were also interested in both duplexes and we lost the Bountiful one and were second on the list for the Centerville duplex. After a couple days, we finally found out that we got the Centerville duplex. Once again, Miracles do happen and my prayers were answered.

We have FINALLY moved out of my grandma's, sold our townhouse, and moved in and settled into our new home in Centerville, Utah. We adore our new home and it turned out to be just a perfect size for us. Chase is enjoying his job, and is enjoying it even more now that his friend/mission companion just started working there this week too. We like the ward so far and love the Centerville area. After so much trial, and ups and downs, things worked out. And I feel so blessed!

Yikes, if you made it this far. A HUGE round of applause for you. If you didn't make it this far. It doesn't matter. This is just for my records... my way of keeping a journal. Now for the good part. Pictures of the last four months. XOXO
