Right after Ashton's birthday and Lake Powell my family and I have headed up north for a close friend's wedding and I made her cake as well.
Labor Day we went to the fair in Parawan with our Robinson fam. Ashton loved the merry-go-round and I made the mistake of believing I could be on the outside of a spinny ride and Chase crushed my body.
Everyday life lately involves Chase working and going to school while me and Ashton play at the park and outside, going to dad's flag football games, and watching shows and Saturday morning classic Looney Tunes, cooking, cleaning, and just playing.
Ash and I have taken a few trips to St. George to hang out with family while Chase was super busy with work and school. We also went up north with my parents to see my sister, brother, and his family because now half of our family lives in northern Utah and it blows.
Speaking of going up north, General Conference weekend, Chase and I decided to get away. This was the first time leaving Ashton overnight. Chase and I didn't have tickets or GC, but we went up north to go shop and eat and just be Chase and Jess, not mom and dad. I did a terrible job at taking any pictures though, the only one I took was at dinner when Chase and I got lobster bisque because of the episode, Soup Nazi, on Seinfeld when Jerry orders crab bisque and says it's incredible. It was a little too fishy for us, but dipping the bread in it was good. Ash stayed with his grandma and grandpa Robi the first night then his grandma and grandpa Boyce the second night. The only picture I got was from his aunt Nicole taking him and Stockton for a walk. So nice to have free babysitters haha. It was a too quick trip, but a good one where there was no Ashton distraction... But we were so excited to see him once we got home!
I decided to improve on my cake-making skills because I've struggled the past couple cakes I've done. I practiced for a few weeks in preparation for a big weekend of cakes. First cake was for McCall, the first girl who befriended me when I moved to St. George in 7th grade. I loved her cake and the way it turned out. The very next day, I had another cake in Cedar City for a friend of a friend. It turned out so cool and I was so happy with the finished product. My confidence in my cake-making skills improved so much from these cakes. It makes me excited to do more now in the future!
Over fall break, we went camping with our Robinson family in Beaver. It was so fun and Ash was in outdoor heaven being outside all day for two days. It didn't matter how cold his hands were, he wanted to explore all over the place!
Now, Halloween is coming up next week. Ashton was invited to a little party with a few kids from our ward and I put him in a little ninja turtle costume (where he totally hated his headband). I also went to Thriller with my sister-in-laws, Natalie and Leslee, at Tuacahn for the first time ever ... even though my family has lived in St. George for like 11 years. We aren't going to St. George this year for Halloween and my mom is totally bummed we aren't because she wanted to take Ashton out in his costume, but I'm excited to do Halloween in Cedar. We plan to make taco soup, watch a Halloween show, and take Ashton trick-or-treating (kinda). He will love seeing all the kids run around outside... But that post will be coming up next week if I can get back on track to blogging more consistently.
