Lake Powell & Ashton's 1st Birthday

My whole life, I've wished my birthday was during the summer because I never got to spend my birthday at Lake Powell. Luckily, Ashton's first birthday was celebrated there... The most wonderful birthday he's ever had haha! He turned 1 on Sunday, August 14. On Thursday night, Chase, Ash, and I drove to St. George to head to Powell with my family (minus mom and Jacks who came the next day because Jacks started school). Before we left for Powell, my mom had Ash open up a couple presents and eat a little cake my mom got for him.

We got to Powell pretty late that night, so the fun began the next morning. We just kept the houseboat in the slip, which was actually really great because it guaranteed working power (air, electricity, fresh water) and if you own a houseboat, you know what that means to have working power. Well it was just my dad, Jill, Ash, Chase, and me until that afternoon when Jacks and my mom would show up. Before they came though, we had a great breakfast that morning then decided to go up the lake a little bit to see Rainbow Bridge. I haven't been in about 5 years and Chase had never been so we figured we'd go. Along the way, we did up a few canyons and on the way back, we stopped for some ice cream at Dangling Rope, then we wakeboarded/wakeskated a bit.

After that little journey that took most of the afternoon, we got back and took a break until my mom and Jacks arrived. Once they got there, we went back out for a little more of a wakeboard run until it was about dark (sorry I don't have any pictures of anyone wakeboarding, wakeskating, or skiing because they're on my dad's camera). After, we went back to the houseboat to make dinner and get Ashton ready for bed. While dinner was being made and Jill bathed Ashton, Chase and I went for a kayak ride, then we went back, had dinner, watched a movie, and went to bed.

We got up Saturday morning and did more wakeboarding or wakeskating then went back for some lunch and a nap. That afternoon we all decided to pull out the ski, which we almost never do. I haven't done it in years and Chase had never done it so it was fun! We stayed out doing that until it was getting dark then we headed back for dinner.
(BTW look how good looking my husband is! I like him a lot!)

Sunday was Ashton's birthday! We had eggs and bacon for breakfast on the houseboat and then cleaned up all of our stuff and went for a quick ride in the boat before we decided to leave Powell. It was such a great weekend in the happiest place celebrating our sweet little boy! I absolutely love this happy kid! He bring so much joy to my life and I'm so blessed he is mine forever! Happy 1st Birthday my Ash-man! We love you more than you know!
