For spring break this year, the Boyce clan headed to California. Because the size of the family is increasing, and we didn't want to take two vehicles, we decided to rent a suburban to fit eight passengers. Well it wasn't until the night before we picked up the suburban that we discovered there wasn't one that fit eight, only seven. So the next option was a 15-passenger van... or as I like to call it, a plig-rig. Somehow Chase always gets designated to be driver, but I wasn't complaining because I got shot gun the whole time (another perk to being pregnant).
We stayed, for the first two nights, in Santa Ana at the Quality Suites Inn. It sounds like a pretty low-key, basic hotel, but they had the best continental breakfast I've ever had in my whole life. Like a chef with eggs, bacon, pancakes, and hash browns. I was quite impressed. On our first day, we went to Knott's Berry Farm. Unfortunately, I only was able to ride one ride (the train ride, which I thoroughly enjoyed) because of my pregnancy, but I was the only one out of the bunch who had ever been to Knott's so I was ok with it. I was designated as bag-watcher while everyone went on rides haha. Best $40 I ever spent to go on one ride.
(Pregnancy isn't a good look on me, I have found out. I look short and stubby/chubby)
We headed home later the next afternoon, and the journey home was a crazy one. Traffic was terrible, and once we finally got to Barstow, we decided it would be a good idea to go to an outlet mall off the freeway. Well, it turned out to be a not-so-good idea after all. We all were shopping in the stores for about an hour and a half, and when we came back to the plig-rig, we discovered that we had been robbed pretty bad. All of our iPads, laptops, iPods, Kindles, Cameras, and much much more were gone. It was a horrible experience that I can't even explain the feelings I had. I am so sheltered living in Utah; nothing like this has ever happened to me or my family. It hit us hard, and we were pretty bitter. It's been a couple of weeks, and we are now getting over it, but my family and I lost so much. Like I all of my pictures from my first year of being married. Luckily I blog so that is a blessing, but so many things just gone. The rest of the drive home was pretty bad. All of us were just so ticked off, but it could have been worse. Everything happens for a reason, and although I'm not quite sure what this reason might be, I am moving on.
My dad called my grandpa and told him about it, and he decided to send an email to my dad in case the robbers ever saw it on my dad's iPad. In his email to my dad, he said something like the FBI are working on our case and the criminals should be in jail by tomorrow. Sincerely, Barack Oboma.... Yes, he did spell Obama wrong haha. It was pretty funny.
Bad way to end spring break, but it was still a good and definitely memorable one. Now it's just a couple of days before March is behind us. It has gone by so fast, but that means April is coming. This also means it's my birthday month, just four more weeks of school, and my graduation on May 1st. These things make me beam from ear to ear. Hope your spring breaks were better than mine. Until next time.
