Moving to St. George

When I graduated high school and moved to Provo to go to UVU, I thought I probably wouldn't live in St. George again. I don't really know why. But then I moved back for a few months before Chase and I got married and moved to Cedar City. And every time we would go to St. George (especially in the summer heat) we would be like no way are we ever moving back because it's bloody hot. So then we moved to Centerville. Seven months into living up in northern Utah, we both came to each other after a St. George trip and said we wanted to move to St. George, but we wanted to do it the right way. We had to still focus on finding the right career path for Chase so we patiently searched daily for the right job opening to come in St. George, which isn't the easiest search, because St. George is still small that it doesn't have too many of the jobs Chase was interested in. We would think we found something, then we'd find out it was already closed or was an old posting. This happened a handful of times. Within these few months, we would give up and decide we could stay up north longer, then we'd go back to searching in St. George again. We were back and forth, not knowing what to do and where we should be.

There was one week or so in October that we stopped searching in St. George. I went to sleep one of those nights and had a dream to check online again in St. George. Sure enough, when I woke up, I remembered the dream and searched in St. George for the job title we had been looking for and there it was. Chase applied within 20 minutes and that was it. We never heard anything about his application from this company for nearly 2 months. When Chase got a call in December for a phone interview, we were excited that they finally got back to us. The phone interview went really well and Chase was told that they would schedule another interview after the holidays. So 2 weeks later he had his 2nd phone interview, then a 3rd phone interview a week later.

After the 2nd interview, Chase was feeling really good and excited about the job, but after the 3rd interview, he felt things didn't go as well and we got nervous that that was it. The 4th and final interview was supposed to be a face to face in St. George and we didn't hear from HR if the interview was happening until 2 days after the 3rd interview on Friday at 6:15pm to have the interview 3 days later on Monday morning. Doesn't sound that bad to not hear until 2 days later, but end of the work week when we knew the interview would be Monday, we were thinking it was over, but weirdly still had this tiny bit of hope lingering in the back of our minds. Chase felt great after the Face to Face and we were so hopeful about the job. Chase was the first face to face though and they still had the rest of the week to interview so they told us we would hear about their decision the following week sometime.

So we had 7-11 days of torturous waiting to hear back. The following Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday came and nothing. We were again, feeling like it was over and they offered the job to someone else, but once again, still had that hopeful feeling lingering. Then Thursday passed and Friday approached and nothing. But still, we had hope for some strange reason. I can't explain the feeling. I don't think I've ever had so much hope and faith in something before. We wanted this so bad. Then for some odd reason, Chase decided to not come home for lunch until 3:55pm that Friday. We were talking about how it was probably over, but we still had hope and then at 4:05 he got a call from HR. HE GOT THE JOB!

We packed and moved 2 weeks after we were offered the job. Everything lined up perfectly. The job details and benefits were something that we were very happy and excited about, and the day of the face to face interview my dad's construction company had closed on a new 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house they were gonna rent out in the the exact location we were wanting to live. Near both our parents, Chase's work, the grocery store, in a neighborhood with friends down the street, everything.

We are so thrilled to be here! We've been in St. George for 4 months now, and I still think everyday that this is the best life, and I can't believe we are blessed enough to live here! Life is so happy!
