Ashton was so excited to go on the airplane, but the plane ride wasn't our favorite part that's for sure. It went pretty smooth, but there were some rough parts with having a wiggly toddler on the flight for six hours. We tried to watch a lot of shows, took countless walks up and down the plane, and after much force, got him to finally nap. So we got to Kauai Saturday (May 6) evening around 5 and hustled to Costco to get pizzas for dinner and groceries for the week. We were staying in Princeville which is an hour north from the airport and Costco so we just headed to our condos and ate and went to bed.
Monday we went on a hike to see a little bit of the Na Pali Coast. It's not the most kid friendly hike so we only went a short way to get to a coast viewpoint. I love the Na Pali Coast! It's definitely a site! Next time we are taking a boat tour to see the coast. Way better, but this was fun too! After the hike we went to the same beach as the day before the play, and that night we went to a Luau.
^Note about this picture, my dad said he was gonna take a picture of me and Chase and took it literally right before that wave behind us totally knocked us down. I wish he got a picture of us going down, but it was pretty funny and a painful blow (as I'm sure everyone knows what getting knocked over by an unexpected ocean wave feels like)^
Tuesday we went to Queens Bath. This was probably one of my favorite things we did. The hike down to Queens Bath was a little muddy so we were all extra careful, even though there was one fall among us. Once we finished climbing down the muddy trail there was a little waterfall and the whole coast side was just lava rock. So we walked another 100 yards or so to Queens Bath, which was a big bath/pool that the ocean waves and fish would splash into over some lava rock into. We jumped off some rocks into the pool and played around for a little bit. It was awesome!
Wednesday morning me and the siblings went on a mountain tubing adventure while my parents took the little boys to a park and the lighthouse. We drove to an old sugar kane plantation where there were man-made rivers with 5 tunnels and hopped on a tube and floated down the river and had some lunch after.
Thursday we went to Anini beach. This beach had a lot of big trees, the ground was flat, and the water was so calm. We snorkeled and played on the beach by the calm waters. Ashton loved this beach. He could play in the sand and water without being scared of the huge crashing waves. That night we had our last meal in Hawaii.
^BTW, check out my hair in it's natural humid state...wowzer^
Amazing vacation! We wish we had a few more days, but it was the perfect kickoff to summer and end to another semester for Chase! Just one more this fall so yay! XOXO
