Grandpa's Funeral and Independence Day

Grandpa's Funeral

The week before the 4th my grandpa passed away so the whole family headed up north for the funeral. It was a wonderful weekend having a wonderful reunion with my entire Boyce family, although it wasn't for the most wonderful of circumstances. What my family does best is go out to eat. We have our up north favorites... Italian Village and Maddox.

On Thursday night after the viewing, we all went for a 10pm pizza bender at Italian Village. It was excellent as usual! It's always so much fun going with everyone!
Friday was the funeral. It was a rough day saying our final goodbyes, but the funeral was so good hearing stories about the greatest man! The world lost such a wonderful person, but Heaven is so lucky to have him! After the funeral and luncheon, later that night, the family headed over to grandma and grandpa's house for leftovers and swimming.
Saturday was Maddox day! Everyone besides one cousin (and gramps) was there. We all drove up to Brigham City to Maddox and had the greatest lunch. Afterwards, some of us took a trip down memory lane and headed to Mantua. Mantua is about 5 miles up the canyon from Brigham City where we all used to go as kids to play at the lake and camp. There used to be this tiny little shack we called the Mantua Mall where, I swear, they had everything. Movies, ice cream, toys, you name it. Well we got there and found that they rebuilt it and it's a lot bigger and nicer now. Of course we had to get some ice cream while we were there!

That was the end of the whole "family reunion." Afterwards, Chase and I decided to have a little date and go shopping at City Creek. It's always so nice to be able to get away alone without Ashton, even if it's just for a few hours. After shopping, Chase was craving a pizza bender at Italian Village so we got one on our way home. It was a nice little night for us.

On Sunday, we got to go see Chase's mission president and his wife. They just got called to be the Nauvoo Temple President and Matron this coming November so we had to go see them before they leave here in a couple months. (We did take a picture, but I don't have it unfortunately).

Independence Day

On Monday, it was the 4th of July. some of Chase's family came to Cedar to go to the Parade and other little town festivities. Well Chase and I aren't parade lovers so Chase's parents took Ashton to the parade and Chase and I went for a hike on Cedar Mountain. Another little few hour get away! We were on a role this weekend! After our hike, we came back and got ready to go to the car show. Chase's grandpa always has cool models in the car shows around Iron County. After that, his family left Cedar and Chase, Ashton, and I got orange dream shakes from Arby's and went home and watched Back to the Future (since I've only seen parts of it, oops) and The Double before we went to see the fireworks. Once it was getting darker, we packed up a couple blankets and went up the mountain to a lookout to see the fireworks, which ended up being way stupid because we couldn't tell which were the actual thing with so many going on all over town. So we left. It was a great day though!
